T. Rex fue una banda de rock fundada en Londres en 1967 por Marc Bolan, denominándose originalmente como Tyrannosaurus Rex. Bajo dicho nombre lanzaron sus primeros cuatro álbumes de estudio, con un sonido más cercano al rock psicodélico y al folk rock. A principios de los años setenta y con el nombre reducido a T. Rex alcanzaron la fama mundial, y se convirtieron en la primera banda glam rock de la historia,1 corriente que posteriormente siguieron David Bowie, Sweet y Slade, entre otras agrupaciones inglesas.2
La agrupación dejó de existir en 1977 tras la abrupta muerte del vocalista y líder Marc Bolan, con apenas veintinueve años de edad en un accidente automovilístico. Sin embargo su legado se mantiene con el paso de los tiempos, siendo considerados como una de las grandes influencias para el hard rock,
el new wave, el punk y el rock alternativo.3 Además fue una de las pocas bandas de principios de los setenta que obtuvo diez sencillos en los top diez en el Reino Unido, de los que destacaron éxitos como «Get It On», «Children of the Revolution» y «20th Century Boy», entre otras.
